Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Power In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks follow nights of aerial attacks in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
